Lilly Named New House Chair of Insurance Committee to Protect Families and Businesses

CHICAGO – State Rep. Camille Lilly, D-Chicago, will chair the House Committee of Insurance: Property and Casualty in the 100th General Assembly, hoping to bring forward new ideas and policies to protect families across Illinois.

“I want consumers to have a peace of mind if catastrophe strikes their lives,” Lilly said. “As chair, I will make it a priority to pass legislation that gives home and business owners that ability.”

After an accident or natural disaster, it is important that there is legislation in place to make the recovery a smooth and less stressful transition for residents in Illinois. As Chair of the Insurance: Property and Casualty Committee, Lilly plans on using her experience as the Director of the Austin Chamber of Commerce to determine beneficial legislation for businesses and homeowners.

“During my time as the director of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, I learned first-hand how to deal with issues that affect both businesses and people,” said Lilly. “Balancing the needs of businesses and families was not always easy, but working with both for mutual gain helped accomplish this. I look forward to using my previous experience on this committee to help protect our small businesses and families.”
