Welch To Host Property Tax Appeal Seminar; Invites Residents to Attend

FOREST PARK, Ill. – To help local homeowners lower their skyrocketing real estate taxes, state Rep. Emanuel “Chris” Welch, D-Hillside, is partnering with the Proviso Township Assessor’s Office to host his Annual Property Tax Appeals Seminar.

“Every year property taxes increase and become an even bigger burden on middle-class families,” Welch said. “While I’m working in Springfield to freeze and cut property taxes, families need immediate assistance. I want homeowners to understand how to appeal their tax statements.”

All local residents are invited to attend Welch’s Property Tax Appeals Workshop, where they will learn from experts at the Proviso Township Assessor’s Office on how to best file property tax appeals. To do his part to provide property tax releife to homeowners, Welch recently supported Senate Bill 484. This legislation met the governor’s demand to freeze property taxes for four years and was part of the effort to find bipartisan compromise on the budget. The proposal would have increased property tax exemptions for homeowners, seniors and veterans.

“I will never give up property tax reform because all Illinois homeowners deserve relief,” Welch said. “I strongly urge Proviso residents to take advantage of this opportunity so they can try to save more of their hard-earned dollars.”
